About Us

Coati Cooperative Childcare services got it’s start unintentionally. Former staff & administrators of Bright Light Academy LLC, a 4 Star Keystone STARS early learning center pivoted to in-home childcare when the building they occupied was being sold. Unable to find a suitable & affordable childcare space within a reasonable distance from their clients , Coati Cooperative was born. It’s been an interesting (& sometimes bumpy) journey, but we’re grateful we can continue to provide the high standard of care our families have come to expect & we’re delighted to have the opportunity to help our families build small, supportive communities within the Pittsburgh area.

OUR MISSION:

At Coati Cooperative, we believe that high quality childcare should be the standard, not the exception. Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy & stimulating environment for all our children, encouraging growth & exploration through a variety of fun, educational experiences & activities. We believe that your child’s early learning experiences set the stage for their future education & as such, want their early years to be both positive & productive.

WHY COATI COOPERATIVE?

Every child is unique. They have different strengths & preferences. They learn in different ways & at different rates. Knowing this, our teachers incorporate activities that will engage your child, support their development & accommodate your child’s individual needs. In smaller groups, we are able to meet your child where they’re at, offering more one on one time for your child than in a typical childcare classroom, while still allowing for socialization with peers. Regular assessments of our children’s development allows us to ensure we are providing the care each child requires & honing the skills they will need to build a strong educational foundation .

Our children’s health is a top priority at CCC. Smaller groups means fewer germs! In addition to regular cleaning of toys, childcare spaces & lots of hand washing, we are able to reduce the transmission of typical childhood illnesses by having a maximum of three children in a troop. This winter we reduced the number of absences for illness by over 90%!

Cooperative?

Like the coati, we know it takes a village to raise a child. As such, the “cooperative” part of our program entails families taking turns hosting the children in their “Troop” & parents pitching in for a few hours twice a year to help us on field trips, walks or special events. With the support of our parents, we are able to explore our neighborhood & city in a safe manner, bringing more opportunities for learning to our children.
